We were delighted with our Sijnn /Awa 2014 which was sold on auction at the annual Cape Winemakers Guild auction on 1 October 2016. A delicious individual expression of Syrah enveloped with great Mourvedre. We believe the R1000 per bottle price received was well worth it, but we appreciate the trust shown by our buyers for backing a wine and region that has yet to achieve the prestige required to command that sort of price.
The Auction reached record sales, totaling R13.8 million. “The record auction gives recognition to the quality of our top tier wines crafted in small volumes and shows that South African wines are deserving of the same high prices achieved by wines of comparative quality around the world. Our auction wines represent all the top growing wine regions in South Africa and show great diversity of style,” says Miles Mossop, Chairman of the Cape Winemakers Guild.
